Statement of the Resident Commissioner Regarding his Meeting With Associate Attorney General and Puerto Rico Task Force Co-Chair Tony West

“I just had a very productive meeting with Associate Attorney General Tony West, who co-chairs the White House Task Force on Puerto Rico, and with other federal officials. I am pleased to see that Associate Attorney General West is extremely well-informed about the public safety crisis we are currently confronting and about our requests for additional resources to alleviate this crisis.

I want to reiterate how important it is for all of us working to combat drug-related violence that we do not allow this issue to become politicized, because crime affects us all.

I hope that, in the near future, this visit from high-ranking federal officials will result in concrete actions being taken and necessary resources being allocated to achieve the peace and tranquility that Puerto Rico deserves.”
